Write for us
Clever Spotlight welcomes considered proposals about attention, perception, memory, distraction and observation. A good contribution helps curious general readers see an ordinary experience more clearly without promising a universal fix.
What to propose
We are interested in original essays that explain a focused idea, compare ways of noticing, examine a misconception, explore relevant background or offer a grounded exercise in observation. Choose a subject with room for nuance and a clear reason it matters to readers. Avoid claims that depend on personal anecdotes being treated as proof, sweeping promises about concentration or advice that requires a professional assessment.
A useful pitch
Send a short proposal through the Contact page. Include a working title, the central question, the main point you would make and a brief note about the examples or sources you expect to use. Tell us whether the piece has been published or offered elsewhere. A focused pitch is more useful than a finished article sent without context.
Writing with care
Write plainly and make the reasoning easy to follow. Distinguish evidence from interpretation, respect the limits of your examples and flag material that needs careful checking. Submissions should be original and should not promise outcomes that the piece cannot support. We may edit accepted work for clarity, length and house style.
Attention is a way of seeing
What catches our eye is never the whole scene. A little curiosity about our habits of noticing can make the familiar more legible.
